When we face challenges that seem impossible, it is very hard to stand when we need a breakthrough. In these situations, the enemy not only comes against us… but is trying to cause fear and confusion. Our mind has a tendency to play the what-if game. What if it doesn’t work? We begin to fear the worst outcome. Faith in God seems hard to grasp hold of.
In these times, we must take hold of God’s promises for us. When we have done everything we know to do, we begin to think we’re out of options. We need to realize, we will never run out of options with God. Actually, He tells us what to do when we have done all we know. In Ephesians, chapter 6, verse 11, the Apostle Paul encourages us to “put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”
The armor of God here is the Word. It refers to weapons of war. The word stand means to lay hold of God’s covenant and to abide in it. It is this truth that sets us free. Verse 13 of the same chapter says,

“Therefore, take up the full armor of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.”
God is telling us when the attack comes and we have done everything we know to do, we can stand firm with confidence. The Lord’s Protection (the armor of Truth) will provide the breakthrough in every situation. Our job is to put on the armor of truth; God’s job is to protect us with His covenant promises. Standing firm is standing on what God has promised us that will bring the answer we need.
When we stand firm on the promises, His word makes us faithful. When we stand on the lies of the enemy, his lies make us fearful. Our faith fulfills the promise, our fear will fulfill the lie. We can stand firm in faith because, “… it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.” (Phil 2:13)
It always pleases God to bless His children. That’s why His truth will always set us free.
