Healing Rooms FAQ

How did Healing Rooms start?

IAHR

It was July 22, 1999 when we re-dug the wells of healing and opened up Healing Rooms in Spokane, Washington. The healing wells of John G. Lake had been waiting to be re-dug since 1935 when he passed away. I knew for this work to be available to the whole body of Christ, the focus must come off of a man, John G. Lake, and onto the Holy Spirit. Even though John G. Lake brought an amazing work to us, we must build upon that work. To have increase, we must go higher.

There is a tendency to focus on what a man has done rather than what the Holy Spirit is doing. By focusing on the Holy Spirit, the work of Healing Rooms can go into every nation and every city in every nation. Where the Holy Spirit is, His anointing is available to every believer. God said if your vision is as big as the world, it wouldn’t have to be any bigger.

What are Healing Rooms?

Healing Rooms are an interdenominational ministry where ordinary lay volunteers pray for people who need physical or emotional healing.

How does it work?

People who wish to be prayed for receive individual and confidential attention from a team of two trained Healing Rooms workers for approximately half an hour, although this length of time can vary. After having signed in and whilst waiting for ministry, people are encouraged to spend time in the soaking room where gentle worship music is played. (A few people have received healing in this room without ministry having taken place.)

What do you pray for?

While our primary emphasis is on physical healing, we believe that many problems, including sickness, can have spiritual and emotional roots. Our emphasis is on being led by the Holy Spirit in praying for the needs of each individual. We do not practice medicine or counseling. People are encouraged to continue with existing medical treatment until their practitioner says otherwise.

Who may come for prayer?

This ministry is open to people of all denominations. People of non-Christian faiths or no faith at all may also come for healing prayer, although all prayer is offered in the name of Jesus.

Is there a charge?

There are no appointments and there is no charge. Because some healing takes place over a period of time, people are welcome to come repeatedly for prayer.

Is training offered?

Training courses are offered for people who feel called to pray for healing. There is no fee to attend the training.

Can anyone start a Healing Room?

No. Anyone wanting to start a Healing Room should first feel “called” by God and have a heart that will allow them to be fathers and mothers to their team.

All potential directors must receive training from one of our International Association of Healing Rooms (IAHR) approved trainers and have a clear understanding of our model. Please check the list below of National, Regional, and State Directors that can help you.

You are also welcome to attend training in Spokane and schedule an interview with IAHR; however, you will still need to contact your local IAHR leadership. Please click on the following link for training dates and times: http://healingrooms.com/index.php?src=content&cid=29
